2014 Selwyn Goldsmith Universal Design Award

The Selwyn Goldsmith Award for Universal Design (SGA) is given in recogniton of Architect and a founding figure of Universal Design, Selwyn Goldsmith. The SGA is supported by the Civic Trust Awards. The shorlist and winning recipient of the 2014 SGA was selected by a specially convened panel of Universal Design experts including Selwyn's wife Becky. The Panel was chaired by Keith Bright. The 2014 SGA was presented at the Civic Trust Awards ceremony in Blackpool on the 7th March.

The five shortlisted projects were:

  • Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre, Moyle (Norther Ireland) by Heneghan Peng Architects
  • Ironmonger Row Baths, Islington (Greater London) by Tim Ronalds Architects
  • Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth (South East) by Wilkinson Eyre Architects
  • Splashpoint Leisure Centre, Worthing (South East) by Wilkinson Eyre Architects
  • Timber Lodge and Tumbling Bay Playground (Greater London) by London Legacy Development Corporation.

The winner of the 2014 Selwyn Goldsmith Universal Design Award was the Timber Lodge and Tumbling Bay Playground
